Oak Fire is expected to grow

The Oak Fire is expected to grow to the south and west of the China Peak area until a monsoonal weather pattern settles in the wildfire area. The lightning caused fire is located in the Safford Ranger District of the Coronado National Forest.

The fire stated on June 17, and has burned 3075 acres. The firefighters are working to contain fire within the National Forest boundary. Five percent of the fire is currently contained. The percent containment figure will remain low as the fire grows toward the pre-planned boundary, and will increase as it reaches boundary lines, according to authorities.
