On July 21, 2014, at approximately 9:51 p.m., an adult female was robbed at gunpoint by two suspects, while in the carport of her residence in the 3300 block of North Country Club. The two suspects took the victim’s vehicle and fired a shot during the robbery.
The victim was not injured and called 911 shortly after the incident.
Tucson Police officers located the vehicle and attempted to make a traffic stop. As the vehicle came to a stop in the area of Oracle and Roger, the driver exited and fled on foot. The driver was apprehended after a brief foot pursuit. As the driver was getting out of the vehicle to run, the passenger moved into the driver’s seat and fled in the vehicle. Officers pursued the vehicle into the County, where the vehicle eventually collided with a curb, disabling the vehicle. The driver attempted to flee on foot, but was quickly apprehended by pursuing officers and a police K-9.
Detective found a handgun located inside the vehicle. The gun did not belong to the victim and the caliber matched the shell casing found at the scene. The two suspects were identified as 32 year-old Jason Lee Harvey and 31 year-old Roberto Martinez.
The investigation revealed that Martinez was the one who fired the shot during the robbery. Both suspects were booked into the Pima County Jail.
Harvey was charged with Robbery, Armed Robbery and Aggravated Robbery.
Martinez was charged with Robbery, Armed Robbery, Aggravated Robbery Prohibited Possessor, Felony Fleeing, Felony Criminal Damage and Discharging a Firearm within the City Limits.
