Phoenix neighborhoods recovering from weekend storm

The City of Phoenix Public Works Special Operations group has placed several roll off boxes in the massive storm that storm tore down tress and shut down power for area residents.

One resident described that storm “every bit as destructive” as a hurricane.

Residents lost power at approximately 11:00 p.m. Saturday, and it was restored at approximately 7:00 a.m. Monday.

Phoenix Public Works staff is canvassing the area to notify residents about the roll off boxes and where they are located. The roll off boxes are for residents’ use as needed for storm damage materials. The roll off boxes will remain in the area as needed until the majority of the storm damage has been removed.

The storm damaged area south of Bell Road is scheduled for regular bulk trash collection for area 9 and area 10. One roll off box was placed north of Bell Road on 35th Place and Grover Avenue due to excessive damage.

Bulk trash area 9 is being collected this week. Bulk trash in area 10 will be collected starting next Monday, Aug. 4.
