Hikers find human remains on Mount Lemmon

The Pima County Sheriffs Department reports that on Wednesday July 30, 2014, at approximately 5:00 p.m., Mount Lemmon deputies responded to Marshall Gulch to investigate a report that human skeletal remains had been found by a couple of hikers.

When deputies arrived, they were directed by the hikers to the location of the human skeletal remains that were located a quarter mile from the picnic area. Detectives from the Sheriff’s Department Homicide Unit responded to the incident location. During the course of their investigation they found no evidence of foul play or suspicious circumstances. The cause of death and positive identification is pending the completion of a forensic examination.
