Nogales wins Little League World Series

Nogales Little League, the West regional champs, pounded Puerto Rico on Monday 11-4 at Max Baer Field in seven innings to win the national championship. The National Little League Intermediate 50/70 World Series is the age spectrum for the Baseball Division age 11 through 13.

A day after the National Little League Intermediate 50/70 World Series, the champions celebrated with a parade throughout Nogales City.

The game was back-and-forth heading into the third, with four lead changes, but the Nogales team had its win in a row 13th heading to an 11-4 record in national play.

The West finally managed to grab the lead after a strong third inning. West went up for good on a three-run home run by Dustin Bermudez off Braulio Flores, scoring Alex Ramos and Jesus Robles.

Bermudez racked up three RBIs on two hits for West.

Leonardo Lizardi was hot from the plate for Puerto Rico. Lizardi went 2-3, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the second and seventh innings.
It was the first time Nogales won the Little League Championship.
