Northwest photogenic burglar poses for mug shot portrait

Richard Rogers

Late Friday the Sheriff’s Department asked for the public to help identify a burglar who managed to stand in front of a camera as he used a stolen card. Less than 24 hours after the photo was released the burglar is posed for a new portrait courtesy of the Sheriff.

The burglary occurred in the 7300 block of North Oldfather Drive. Rogers entered the residence while the homeowner was out of town. Numerous items, including weapons, were taken. The homeowner also learned a credit card was stolen and used at numerous businesses in the area.

In the photo, the suspect was photographed using the victim’s credit card at a Circle K Store on the day of the burglary. He was also photographed leaving a Walmart with a female companion.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department would like to thank the public and media for their tips, which led to the arrest of 33-year-old Richard Rogers. Burglary detectives acted on the information they received, located Mr. Rogers, and took him into custody.

He was transported to the Pima County Adult Detention Complex and booked on the following charges:

•     Theft of a Credit Card
•     Forgery

The Pima County Sheriff’s Office has indicated that the investigation continues and it is likely additional charges will be filed.
