Explosives, blasting caps found in Whetstone store

On Monday August 25, 2014 at approximately 9:05 am, the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office was advised of possible explosive related items at a business in Whetstone.

The Sheriff’s Office was advised that while personnel were cleaning and re-organizing the store, they found what appeared to be explosives and blasting caps.

The Sheriff’s Office Bomb Technician responded along with an officer from the Department of Public Safety EOD squad and located thirty six (36) #6 and #8 non-electric blasting caps.

The caps were located in a glass display case on a shelf inside the store and were removed from the scene for disposal.
