Despite the fact that the Sheriff’s Animal Crimes Investigators have been unusually busy with cases involving cruelty against dogs such as the Green Acres Boarding Facility case and others, and now another suspect has now been arrested for bestiality.
Terry Wayne Haupt, age 53, of Longmont, Colorado who had recently moved to Globe, Arizona was taken into custody yesterday by the Sheriff’s Animal Crimes investigators, Arpaio says, at a Tempe hotel where Haupt went to meet up with the Sheriff’s Office undercover black lab for the purposes of engaging in various sex acts.
Upon his arrest, Haupt admitted to Sheriff’s detectives that he posted the ad on Craigslist looking for a female dog to perform what detectives say were “graphic” depictions of Haupt’s sexual intentions.
Arpaio says he has written to Craigslist owner on three separate occasions asking the company to consider forbidding this type of solicitation on the popular website. To date, Craigslist President and CEO, Jim Buckmaster, has never responded to the Sheriff’s letters or requests.
Craigslist is seen by over 50 million users in the United States.
“Since the owners of Craigslist apparently refuse to forbid this illegal solicitation, my Animal Crimes Investigations will continue to remain vigilant in policing the website and ferreting out these cases,” Arpaio says. “Bestiality is both a perversion and an act of animal cruelty and this office will continue in our efforts to stop it where we can.”
