Recent structure fires at the Teesto and Dilkon Chapter Houses on the Navajo Nation have forced the relocation of mail delivery and early voting services to other venues in the communities.
“We were saddened to learn of the recent fires which damaged the Teesto and Dilkon Chapter Houses, as we know the invaluable benefit the chapter houses provide in their communities,” said Laurette Justman, Navajo County Recorder. “We’re pleased to coordinate with the Navajo Nation to ensure vital services will still be accessible and available to community residents.”
Two of the services provided at the chapter houses were mail delivery and voting. The United States Postal Service (USPS) has announced mail for Teesto residents is now being delivered to the Teesto Head Start building on Highway 60. Mail for Dilkon residents is being delivered to the old Dilkon Chapter House, located at Navajo RTE 15.
Navajo County will set up an early voting location at the Teesto Head Start on Monday, October 20, 2014. The temporary poll location will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. DST. In Dilkon, early voting will take place on Monday, October 13, 2014 at the Dilkon Shopping Center (Bashas), located at Navajo RTE 15 and 60. Look for the Navajo County voter registration trailer, which will signal the voting site.
places for the upcoming general election in November will be announced at a later date.
