82% of registered Arizona voters cast early ballots

The Secretary of State has released the final numbers in the 2014 primary election. The data reveals that 82 percent of voters who participated in the primary did so by early ballot.

Turnout for the 3.2 million registered voters was low, with only 877,270 or 27 percent casting a ballot. Of the 3.2 million registered, 1.4 million, or 45 percent of total registered voters requested an early ballot.

While there were not any known complaints of voters being denied the vote because they could not supply identification
some voters in Pima County, were feeling disenfranchised when they learned that although they had not requested an early ballot, they were forced to vote by early ballot by the Pima County Recorder’s Office which claimed that they had inadvertently sent out early ballots and the only remedy for voters was to cast the early ballot or vote at the polls. If they chose to vote at the polls, their ballot was treated as a provisional ballot.
