According the Nogales International, the demands include the immediate release of active-duty Marine Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi, who was arrested in April in Mexico for bringing loaded weapons into the country after apparently making a wrong turn into the San Ysidro port of entry in Southern California. The group also wants the U.S. government to “secure our borders and protect the citizens in America from foreign threats.”
According to the group’s founder Stasyi Barth, a 41 year old disabled housewife in California, “This action will force the elected officials in The United States and Mexico, to come up with a permanent and legitimate solution for dealing with the Illegal Immigration issue and enforcing our rule of law. This protects all American citizens and those legal immigrants who wish to come here through legal channels.”
Barth claims to have “no affiliations with any groups…no militia, no political party…nothing. Barth wrote in the announcement for the protest, “Our military needs our help. Our veterans, our poor, our children…all deserve a
better life than what they are receiving. It all comes back to the wise words of helping others, you must first make
yourself whole so you are stable, then reach out and help everyone you can. Our Country is not whole. We need to focus on
our citizens, first and foremost.”
