The Cochise County Sheriff’s Office has been advised of at least two calls where a white male subject approaches a home in the Sierra Vista area that has an obvious Dish Network device, and makes contact with the resident. The male subject advises that there is an issue with the billing for the equipment and he needs to gain access to identify and remove it from the home.
On both occasions the male subject has been aggressive and on the most recent call he began using foul language and demanded access to the inside of the home. The resident told the male subject that she was calling the Sheriff’s Office and he then fled the scene, getting into a black fiat and leaving the area.
The person in the initial call advised similar circumstances only when the male was denied access he fled the area in a maroon van. Neither of the potential victims allowed access to the inside of the home, however, the male subject did take some equipment from the outside of the second one.
The Cochise County Sheriff’s Office is advising residents to use caution in any situation where someone wants to get inside of your residence and note that Dish Network will not send someone to your home unless you are requesting service or have made previous arrangements.
The male subject is described as being a heavy set white male, last seen wearing a blue and white shirt, blue jeans, and a white baseball cap.
The Cochise County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public to keep your doors locked and call 9-1-1 if you encounter someone described above.
