The Pima County Sheriff’s Department Traffic Unit is investigating a motorcycle crash at Kolb Road and Ventana Crest Place. The report was received shortly after 10:00 AM.
Deputies determined that the motorcyclist was travelling southbound on Kolb Road. He proceeded to pass a vehicle on the left within a no-passing-zone. While passing, another vehicle approached from the opposite direction, which may have caused the motorcyclist to lose control. As a result, he hit a speed limit sign on the southbound side of the roadway. The impact caused fatal injuries.
The 26-year-old motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Speed is considered a factor in the incident. The Sheriff’s Department continues the investigation .
