Seventy-one-year-old Lawrence Amaral worked with his wife at the daycare located inside the St. Louis The King Catholic Church in Glendale for the past five and half years.
The Sheriff’s Computer Crimes Unit discovered that hundreds of videos and images, showing very young children, ages three to fourteen, involved in sexual acts with adults, were being publicly shared online. A subpoena revealed that the source in question belonged to a computer located at a home owned by Amaral and his wife in Surprise.
Amaral admitted to Sheriff’s detectives that he had been downloading such files for the past three years and claimed no one else had ever viewed the images. He also averred that he had never inappropriately touched any child. He further told detectives that he was sick and could not stop this behavior, but wanted help.
Amaral was booked into the Fourth Avenue Jail and is currently being held on a $15,000.00 bond.
