Tucson bar employee kills patron in fight

Tucson Police are investigating a shooting that occurred at a south side bar and grill just after 2:00am this morning. One person was pronounced deceased at the scene.

On November 14th, at about 2:15am, officers responded to Gitano’s Bar and Grill located at 5358 South Nogales Highway reference a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, they located an adult male with gunshot trauma in the parking lot. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. They were also approached by an employee of the establishment who stated he had just shot the deceased male. The employee was detained without incident.

Homicide Detectives responded to continue the investigation. Based on initial information received, it appears that the employee of Gitano’s Bar and Grill was working security for the establishment. He became involved in an altercation with a man in the parking lot. At some point during the altercation, the security guard fired his gun and the man was struck. The security guard was not injured. The deceased male was in possession of a weapon at the time of the incident.

Detectives are still conducting interviews and processing the scene. Numerous people left the parking lot as police initially arrived. Detectives are asking anyone information to contact 911 or 88-CRIME.
