Border Patrol seizes 12 pounds of meth…twice

Border Patrol agents in Wellton, Ariz. located packages of meth within the frame of a smuggling vehicle

Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents assigned to Wellton Station and working the Interstate 8 checkpoint discovered a total of 24 pounds of meth in two separate incidents Friday with a combined value of approximately $120,000.

Agents conducting an immigration inspection referred a vehicle for a secondary inspection following a canine alert.  During their inspection, agents discovered several packages containing a combined total of 12 pounds of methamphetamine.

Later at the same checkpoint, agents referred another vehicle for a secondary inspection following a canine alert and discovered several more packages containing another 12 pounds of methamphetamine.

Both vehicles and the drugs were seized and the drivers were taken to Wellton Station for processing.
