Nielson appointed to Navajo County Superior Court

Dale Nielson has been appointed to the Navajo County Superior Court. Nielson replaces Judge John Lamb, whose retirement is effective December 31, 2014.

“With more than 25 years of service to Navajo County, including two terms as an elected Superior Court Judge, Dale possesses extensive knowledge of the court system and the county in general,” said Governor Brewer. “Dale is even-keeled and has an impartial judicial temperament. He will continue to be an asset to the people of Navajo County.”

Nielson has worked for the Navajo County Public Defender since 2010. He previously worked in private practice (2009-10); was elected to two four-year terms as a judge on the Navajo County Superior Court (2001-08); and served as an attorney for the Navajo County Legal Defender (1993-2001) and for the Navajo County Attorney (1989-93).

As a judge, Nielson served as presiding judge and has handled a variety of matters, including felony criminal, domestic relations, juvenile delinquency and dependency, probate and civil cases.

Nielson attended the University of Creighton College of Law (1986-87) and received his Juris Doctor from the University of Arizona College of Law (1989). He obtained a B.A. in Political Science from Brigham Young University in 1984.
