Restrictions set for Loop 202, I-10 improvement projects this weekend

Freeway-improvement projects will require lane restrictions or ramp closures in the Phoenix area this weekend (Dec. 12-15), according to the Arizona Department of Transportation. Possible inclement weather could change plans for scheduled work. Drivers are encouraged to allow extra travel time or consider alternate routes while the following scheduled weekend restrictions are in place:

Eastbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) narrowed to two lanes in areas between Country Club Drive and McDowell Road in east Mesa from 4 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday (Dec. 13) for widening project. DETOUR: Please use caution and be prepared to slow down and merge safely in work zones.

Westbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) narrowed to two lanes between Higley Road and Val Vista Drive in Mesa from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday (Dec. 13) for widening project. DETOUR: Please use caution and be prepared to slow down and merge safely in work zone.

Eastbound Interstate 10 (toward Phoenix) narrowed to one lane between State Route 85 and Verrado Way in Buckeye from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday (Dec. 13) and Sunday (Dec. 14) for lane striping. DETOUR: Please allow extra travel time and be prepared to slow down and merge safely in work zone.

Northbound State Route 85 ramp to westbound Interstate 10 in Buckeye closed from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday (Dec. 13) and from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday through Friday nights (Dec. 14-19) for bridge work. DETOUR: Consider using northbound SR 85 ramp to eastbound I-10, then exit at Miller Road and make left turns to reach westbound I-10 on-ramp.
