Single vehicle accident fatality at Speedway & Houghton

On December 18, 2014, at approximately 3:30 PM, deputies with the Pima County Sheriff’s Department Rincon District responded to a reported collision near the intersection of Houghton Road and Speedway Boulevard. Upon arrival, they found a Ford F350 pickup truck collided with a tree just east of the intersection.

The single occupant and driver of the vehicle, later identified as 63-year-old Frank Miller, was found trapped and unresponsive inside his truck. He was later pronounced deceased at the scene. The Sheriff’s Traffic Unit responded and took over the investigation.

They determined the truck was travelling eastbound on Speedway and attempted to pass two vehicles in a no passing zone. The driver lost control of the pickup truck and struck the tree.

The investigation is still ongoing.
