Walgreen’s clerk shot on Christmas Day okay

On Christmas Day at approximately 4:00 p.m. a 21 year old Cody Ray Moore robbed the Walgreens at 7923 E McDowell Rd at gun point. During the course of the event, a 33 year old male store employee was shot by Moore. Moore quickly exited the store and fled the scene in a vehicle.

Responding Scottsdale Police officers observed the fleeing vehicle eastbound on McDowell Road. A short pursuit ensued onto the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community. During the chase Moore failed to negotiate a turn at Thomas Road and the 101 Freeway crashing into a power pole. He was then taken in to custody without further incident. He was not injured. Moore was arrested and charged with Armed Robbery, Aggravated Assault, and Felony Flight. He has been transported to the 4th Ave county jail.

The gunshot victim was transported to a local hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries. The victim is recovering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen.
