Frye Elementary School teacher facing second-degree murder charges

Erica Kristine Flynn, an elementary school teacher, in the Chandler Unified School District is facing second-degree murder charges after causing a collision that left Kathleen Mae Searcy, 66, dead.

KPHO-TV reports that Flynn, age 30, ran a red light on December 27, while heading south on Arizona Avenue near Loop 2002 in Chandler. Flynn hit Searcy’s vehicle as that was making a left turn.

Flynn was driving more than 75 miles per hour and did not apply the brakes, according to authorities.

according to authorities, Flynn had a blood alcohol content that was over three times the legal threshold.

Flynn was a first-year teacher at Frye Elementary School. According to the District spokesman Flynn will not be allowed to return to her job next semester.
