Pinal County officials host sex trafficking conference to educate law officials, public

Much focus has been put on sex trafficking since Arizona is hosting the Superbowl this year, but human and sex trafficking exist as problems all year. In fact, ‎Pinal County‬ remains one of the most active counties in the United States for human and drug trafficking. According to Sheriff Babeau, Pinal County hopes to create a significant impact in combatting human and sex trafficking by training-up the trucking industry, which is believed to unknowingly come across victims of trafficking every day.

As sex trafficking, becomes a more dangerous problem in today’s society, a conference was held on Thursday by Pinal County officials to facilitate and increasing awareness and education of law enforcement and the public.

The Pinal County Attorney’s Office and Truckers Against Trafficking sponsored the conference, which was held at the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office headquarters and included heavy involvement by PCSO.

The conference was attended by about 50 people, mostly from law enforcement, to provide specific training to officers on how to recognize and attack sex trafficking.

The event was made possible with grant funding from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Children and Families.
