As previously reported by the ADI on Tuesday, January 20, 2015, at approximately 5:35 a.m., Green Valley District Sheriff deputies responded to a residential fire in the 3800 block of West Calle Tres. When deputies arrived, the Green Valley Fire Department was on scene extinguishing the fire.
As they were putting the fire out, the firefighters discovered the body of a man in the residence. After they put out the fire, exited the residence, and notified the deputies on scene about their discovery.
The Sheriff’s Department Homicide and Arson Units responded to investigate the incident. The decedent was transported to the Office of the Medical Examiner for a forensic examination to determine identity and cause of death.
The deceased man found in the burning Green Valley home has been identified as 60-year-old Daniel Gonzales Lozano. Preliminary results of the Medical Examiner’s examination indicate that his death was the result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
