Deputies with the Sheriff’s Traffic Unit responded to the scene and took over the investigation. They determined the motorcyclist had been traveling westbound on Fort Lowell Road, reportedly at a high rate of speed. Going eastbound were two vehicles, a Pontiac sedan driven by a 22-year-old woman and a Toyota pickup truck driven by 40-year-old man. The driver of the Pontiac made a left turn in front of the motorcycle into a driveway. The motorcyclist collided with the sedan, glanced off the car and subsequently hit the following Toyota pickup truck.
A helmet was located at the scene, however, witnesses reported they did not see the motorcyclist wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
The motorcyclist was later pronounced deceased at the hospital. He has been identified as 32-year-old John Hyatt of Tucson. The investigation continues.
