TPD investigates east side homicide

On Sunday, March 1, 2015, at approximately 10:30 a.m., TPD officers responded to the area of South Sarnoff Drive and East Calexico Street for a report of a possible stabbing. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male near the intersection, with obvious signs of trauma. Tucson Fire Department was on scene and immediately transported the victim to University of Arizona Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.

Detectives from the Homicide Unit and Aggravated Assault Unit responded to continue the investigation.

Detectives have determined that the victim and two adult males were involved in a confrontation near the intersection. During the confrontation, a knife was brandished and the victim was stabbed. The other two individuals involved were located and detained, but at this time no arrests have been made.

The victim has been identified as 18-year-old Matthew Potts.
