On Friday March 20, 2015, around 9:30 p.m., Tucson Police officers responded to a two vehicle collision in the 9300 block of South Wilmot Road. The Tucson Fire Department responded and both drivers were transported to local area hospitals with life-threatening injuries. Shortly after arrival at the hospital, one driver was pronounced deceased.
Detectives from the Tucson Police Department’s Traffic Unit responded to continue the investigation. They were able to determine that a 1999 Dodge Dynasty was northbound on Wilmot Road and crossed over the painted lane divider that separates northbound and southbound traffic striking a 2003 Mercury Sable traveling southbound, nearly head-on. The investigation is ongoing to determine if speed and alcohol were a factor.
At this time, the deceased driver’s name is being withheld pending next of kin notification.
