Detectives with the Sheriff’s Robbery/Assault Unit are asking the public for assistance in identifying a suspect. On April 4, 2015, just before 4:00 PM, the suspect was in the Safeway store located at 9705 N. Thornydale Road.
He attempted to walk out of the store with ten movie DVDs and was approached by the store manager. The suspect pushed the store manager out of the way and while running out of the store dropped several of the DVDs. The store manager followed the man outside, where the suspect threw one of the remaining DVDs at him.
It is unknown if the suspect was able to retain any of the stolen merchandise. The suspect was last seen getting into a blue sedan and drove off towards Thornydale Road. He was described as a Caucasian man, approximately 5’9” with a thin build. He was last seen wearing a dark ball cap with red coloring, a dark t-shirt with a white design on the top of the back and on the front, and grey shorts.
Surveillance video obtained by detectives showed a person entering the store right behind the suspect. He was wearing a blue basketball jersey with a red number “62.” He may not be related to the crime committed and is considered only a person of interest. Detectives would like to talk to him.
Anyone with information on the identity and/or whereabouts of the suspect is asked to call 9-1-1 or 88-CRIME.
