Fond Du Lac mom continues fight to “opt out”
Even after the travails of a Fond Du Lac mom fighting to allow her daughter to opt out of the Badger exam became public, garnering clarification from a Wisconsin legislator, Fond Du Lac School District officials refused to recognize parental rights.
The mom Jessica, who has asked WDI to not use her last name for fear of retaliation on her daughter, was told by school administrators this week that her daughter – by law – must take the test. However, out the kindness of their hearts, they will allow her to be exempt. Jessica was told that it would not be considered an opt out, which raises the question what the meaning of opt out is.
