Tucson manholes rigged with spikes

Police report that several metal spikes have been found sticking out of manhole covers on Tucson’s east side. Police received reports in late January when several vehicles were damaged by spikes.

According to police, on Thursday morning, a resident on the east side of town located two more manhole covers with the same type of spikes. Police say it is obvious that the spikes are being placed there on purpose, most likely to cause damage to passing vehicles.

Tucson Police investigators are looking in to the recent incidents and are asking anyone with information to please call 88-CRIME. If you see anything similar or suspicious in the roadway, call 911 immediately.

Anyone placing an object into the roadway that could potentially cause an accident or severe damage to property, could face felony charges.
