Surprise Police Rescue Red Tailed Hawk

On Thursday, May 28, 2015, the Surprise Police Department Animal Control Unit responded to a wildlife call in the 16800 block of West Lundberg Street, in Surprise. The police were notified by a Surprise resident that a bird had injured its wing and needed assistance.

Upon arrival, Animal Control Officer Mike Moore and Animal Control Officer Summer Harris gently collected the injured bird. Later, the 5-year-old Red Tailed Hawk was transported to “Fallen Feathers”, a wildlife rescue and rehabilitation facitlity, and exotic bird rescue, located in Northwest Phoenix.

This is the second bird of prey the Surprise Animal Control Unit has rescued in 2015.
