He had one of the friendliest demeanors around and Dan Ryan, a 2011 inductee into the Pima County Sports Hall of Fame and former KVOA Channel 4 sports director will be missed. His passing was marked by a tribute on KVOA’s Monday newscast.
Ryan served as the sports director for 20 years. He arrived at KVOA in 1987. Before going to Denver, he began his broadcast career in his native Albuquerque.
In 2006, Ryan left KVOA saying he had decided “I really want to be a human being.”
Most recently he worked as a spokesperson for Rosemont Copper. He died late last week, according to KVOA.
