Violent Death on Tucson’s Southside

This morning, at approximately 5:56 AM, deputies with the Pima County Sheriff’s office responded to the report of a male lying in the street near the intersection of South Country Club Road and East Milton Road. Upon arrival, deputies found 46-year-old Ricardo Figueroa lying in the street, just east of the intersection. Mr. Figueroa suffered multiple traumatic injuries and was later pronounced deceased at the scene.

Detectives with the Sheriff’s Homicide Unit responded and took over the investigation. Evidence was located in an alley, south of where Mr. Figueroa was found, indicating an altercation which had taken place in front of a residence in the 3100 block of East Milton Road. Witnesses described hearing what sounded like an altercation. Another witness then found Mr. Figueroa lying injured in the middle of Milton Road.

Over the course of their investigation, detectives developed information about a suspect in the case. He was identified as 16-year-old Andres Jesus Moreno. Detectives with the Sheriff’s Fugitive Investigative Strike Team (FIST) located Moreno shortly after 11:00 AM and took him into custody.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information on this case is asked to call 9-1-1 or 88-CRIME.
