She is best known for her unusual antics on the floor of the House at the Arizona capitol, but Arizona State Representative Victoria Steele may take her show to nation’s capitol.
On Tuesday, she announced interest in challenign Rep. Martha McSally in the Congressional District 2 race on Facebook.
Steele told “friends” that she intends to form an exploratory committee. The announcement came after Rep. Bruce Wheeler, the favorded Democrat said he would not run due to an eye injury.
A staunch pro-abortion supporter, Steele said, “Martha McSally is failing us in Congress. It is already clear that she only answers to the extremely rich and powerful special interest group that brought her to Arizona and put her in office. As a woman and an elected official I believe the incumbent must be held accountable for her refusal to stand up for women and families and our rights to make our own healthcare decisions.”
Steele’s unusual grandstanding has not earned her much respect at the State capitol, but according to lawmakers she has provided much amusement. On one occassion when she was asked to lead the day’s prayer, she turned over the duty to a flute player she brought in for the show. Lawmakers stood holding back laughter as the floutist played for what seemed like an eternity.
