Tempe Plans “Juneteenth” Family Festival

Tempe will host its own “Juneteenth” festival on Saturday, June 20 from 4-8 p.m. at the Tempe History Museum, 809 E. Southern Ave.

Juneteenth is an American festival that commemorates June 19, 1865 when slaves were emancipated in Texas. The day is also celebrated throughout America to honor African American heritage and to remember the lives of slaves.

The family festival will include gospel music, dancers, Buffalo Soldiers, food trucks and free raffle prizes.
