Pima County deputies know firsthand that many Pima County families – like theirs – struggle to make ends meet. So, Sheriff’s Department employees decided to help children and their families, who might struggle to buy necessary school supplies.
Department employees solicited donations from a variety of local businesses and organizations. Through the generosity of these donors; deputies, civilians, and volunteers stuffed 1,000 backpacks with essential school supplies. The backpacks will be given away for free to kids in need during our Badges and Backpacks Back to School event on Saturday, July 18, 2015 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 p.m. at the Foothills Mall.
Specialty units including School Resource Officers, Pima Regional Bomb Squad, Motor Unit, SWAT), McGruff, and several community partners will be at the event. The Sheriff’s Auxiliary Volunteers will also be there to provide child fingerprinting services.
