The Cochise County Sheriff’s Office has been advised of at least three separate calls that are related to a known phone scam.
A male caller advises the person answering the phone that he is “Lt Jerry Nelson” with the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office. The man then tells the potential victim that they have failed to appear for Jury Duty and they will be arrested unless a fine is paid immediately.
The Sheriff’s Department is asking the public to avoid falling victim to this scam. Law Enforcement agencies will not call to warn you about an arrest if payment is not made, and any calls that you received like this should be reported immediately.
