Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio says he is maintaining security at the US Army reserve Center in Buckeye Arpaio Maintains Army Reserve Center Protection Monday marked the beginning of the second week of protection provided by his all volunteer posse.
Arpaio acknowleged that the move by his office has turned into being a somewhat controversial stance, but the posse is providing much needed additional eyes and ears.
In some other states, the National Guard is providing additional security to the military centers in the wake of the shooting in Tennessee where four Marines and one Sailor were killed on July 16th by a lone gunman.
Arpaio maintains that the armed posse volunteers performing this service are properly trained to handle any situation.
