The Tucson Police Department is actively investigating an officer involved shooting that took place late yesterday afternoon.

On August 1, 2015, at approximately 4:50 p.m., Tucson Police Department officers responded to 38 West Prince Road regarding a suspicious activity call. Officers had been dispatched to the same location the previous evening for a homicide investigation.

The caller reported that a male and female were near where the homicide took place and appeared to be looking around the area. Tucson Fire transported the suspect to Banner University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Both officers were uninjured during the shooting.

Detectives from the Homicide Unit and the Office of Internal Affairs responded to continue the investigation. As is standard practice in all officer involved shootings, the Homicide Unit will conduct a criminal investigation into the incident.

Additionally, the Office of Internal Affairs will conduct a separate and parallel administrative investigation to examine the actions of department personnel in response to this incident.
