The Tucson Police Department is investigating an apparent homicide/suicide that took place on July 31, 2015, at approximately 6:00 p.m. Officers responded to a residence in the 1700 block of East Saint Jonas Place in response to a 911 call.
The 911 call was placed from out-of-state, asking that officers check the welfare of a family member who was not returning phone calls. When officers arrived on scene they attempted contact at the front door but received no answer. Through a window officers could see a male and female in the living room that appeared to be unresponsive. Officers then gained entry into the home through an unlocked door. Once inside, they discovered the male and female were deceased, with obvious signs of gunshot trauma.
Homicide detectives responded to the residence to continue the investigation. Based on that initial investigation and evidence at the scene, detectives believe that the male fatally shot the female and then turned the gun on himself.
The female victim has been identified as 32-year-old Natalie Beissel. The suspect was identified as 48-year-old Marc Florio. Next of kin have been notified.
