With the help of forensic evidence and witness statements, Tucson Police Department detectives have identified the shooter in the 38 West Prince Road incident on August 1, as 29-year-old Armando Serrano Jr.
On August 1, 2015, the evening after the murder 26-year-old Richard Fries, a concerned citizen called 911 to report that two individuals, a male and female, were looking around the area where the shooting of Fries took place. Officers were dispatched to that location and located the couple. When officers attempted to make contact, the male ran and a short foot pursuit ensued. Gunfire was exchanged between the suspect and the two officers.
The suspect was struck by gunfire and pronounced deceased at the scene.
