The Pima County Sheriff’s Department would like to make the public aware of an incident which occurred at a bus stop at N. Bald Eagle and W. Overton Road, near DeGrazia Elementary School.
The mother of a 12-year-old girl reported her daughter had been scared by an unknown male individual, leading the child to run away from the bus stop. Further investigation revealed a situation where the girl was at the bus stop and noticed a male individual across the street.
The individual kept shouting and talking to himself. He then suddenly crossed the street and came towards the girl, still shouting out loud. The girl became scared and ran away towards a friend’s house. This occurred shortly after 8:00 AM this morning. The adult male was described as Hispanic, of an unknown age, with long dark hair and a beard. He was last seen wearing a white shirt and grey sweat pants, smoking and carrying a red object, possibly a cup.
The girl described the man as looking unclean. It is unclear what the man’s intentions were and detectives are involved in the investigation. We would like to remind parents to talk to their children about being watchful and aware of their surroundings.
Children should be encouraged to report any suspicious observations to their parents or school staff. Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call 9-1-1 or 88-CRIME.
