On Friday August 21, 2015, 50-year-old Amy Hill, the victim of the May 2, 2015, collision on Sahuarita Road reported in the Arizona Daily Independent (ADI) and described below succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased.
On Monday August 24, 2015, the driver of the car, Scott Woodington was charged and booked on an additional charge of Second Degree Murder.
On May 2, 2015, at approximately 10:55 p.m., Pima County deputies responded to Sahuarita Road and Alvernon Way regarding a passenger car colliding into a motorcycle.
When deputies arrived, they learned a westbound passenger car on Sahuarita Road was attempting to pass a westbound motorcycle.
As the car was passing the motorcycle, the driver noticed a vehicle approaching in the opposite direction. The driver of the passenger car moved back into the westbound lane colliding with the motorcycle.
The driver of the motorcycle was able to pull off to the side of the road without crashing. The passenger car continued westbound at a high rate of speed and rear ended another motorcycle. The motorcyclist Amy Hill was transported to the trauma center with life-threatening injuries.
The Sheriff’s Department Traffic Unit responded and took over the investigation. The driver of the passenger car, was identified as 42-year-old Scott Woodington, was transported to the Pima County Adult Detention Complex and was initially booked on the following charges:
• Two counts of Aggravated DUI
• Two counts of Aggravated Assault
• Criminal Damage. Speed and alcohol were the contributing factors in the collision.
