Gila Bend Armed Robbers Arrested

Less than two weeks ago on September 28th and 29th, the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Shell Station at 942 E Pima Street, and the Circle K at 500 W Pima Street, in Gila Bend regarding armed robberies. Convenience store clerks in the Town of Gila Bend were faced with an armed gunmen demanding money from the registers.

Surveillance video and still images showed the man entered the stores with a semi-auto handgun and hoody over his head to conceal his identity.

Public tips from posted crime bulletins and round the clock work from sheriff’s detectives lead to the arrest of Ramon Lopez-Rolon age 19, and Luis Campos, age 21,. Both Campos and Lopez-Rolon are residents of Buckeye but previously had worked in the Town of Gila Bend.

Early Friday morning Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office Detectives with the assistance of the Sheriff’s SWAT Team executed a search warrant on a house in Buckeye. The execution of the warrant resulted in the arrest of, Ramon Lopez-Rolon, who assisted in the planning and carrying out of both robberies, by acting as the getaway driver as well as scouting both locations prior to the robberies.

Sheriff’s detectives obtain certain evidence from Lopez-Rolon residence that implicated another suspect, Luis Alberto Campos. While Campos’s house was under surveillance by sheriff’s SWAT Team members, Campos was seen walking in the neighborhood towards his residence. When confronted by SWAT members, Campos fled on foot but was apprehended while attempting to flee into his residence.

During interviews, both suspects gave full confessions to their roles in the robberies including an additional admission about vandalizing a family owned Mexican food restaurant in Gila Bend, as well as several other public and private property locations throughout the town.
