Pima County Bond Early Results: Taxpayers Appear To Revolt

Supervisor Ally Miller led the taxpayer revolt against the Pima County mega-bonds. Early results show that the bonds are failing.

Rep. Mark Finchem issued a statement as the results are rolling in: “It is clear that even after the massive amount of money spent on the “Say Yes on PIMA Bonds” campaign, voters have no interest in seeing the massive property tax hike that passage of the bond package would have driven. The disclosure that the County administration could have used the money for purposes other than what it was intended for -buying one land, and removing it from the tax rolls- raised a lot of eyebrows. While the Pima County administration points the finger at the legislature for their economic woes and poor road conditions, voters aren’t buying it. Voters also seem to have grown weary of the constant bond issues votes, “bond fatigue” has become tedious, and the “cost of a latte” attitude of leadership is ps pretty arrogant. Add to all of this that PIMA County has some of the highest paid personnel in the state and you have a recipe for NO.”

Supervisor Ray Carroll had fought for the bonds calling them the “lifeblood” of Pima County.
