Man Wearing Clown Mask Arrested In Attempted Tucson Sexual Assault

On September 26, 2015 just after 5:00 a.m., Tucson Police Department officers responded to a residence in the 1000 block of East Seneca, reference the report of an attempted sexual assault. Upon arrival, officers learned that the victim was asleep in her bedroom when she awoke to an adult male standing in the doorway of her room. The suspect was wearing a clown mask and attempted to sexually assault her.

The victim began yelling, which alerted a roommate who was sleeping in another room. When the roommate arrived, the suspect fled the residence and was not located.

Detectives were able to determine that the suspect had forced entry into the home before attempting the sexual assault. It was also revealed that the suspect dropped his cell phone and clown mask in the bedroom while attempting to flee the residence. After reviewing evidence and obtaining fingerprints from the home, detectives were able to identify the suspect as 46-year-old Corey Morris. On September 28, 2015 detectives located Morris outside of his apartment complex and took him into custody without incident. Morris was booked into the Pima County Jail on 1 count each of Attempted Sexual Assault, Aggravated Assault, Burglary and Kidnapping.

On October 4, 2015 Morris posted his bond and was released from jail. As detectives were continuing their investigation they found multiple photographs of women in various stages of undress on Morris’ cell phone. The photographs appeared to have been taken from outside of different residences, looking through windows. Detectives began canvassing neighborhoods and speaking with residents near the attempted sexual assault. They were able to locate a female victim who recognized her property and the inside of her residence in one of the photos. The victim was also in the photo and advised that she did not authorize anyone to take her photo and did not know she was being photographed. At least 4 other victims from different residences were found in the cell phone.

On October 21, 2015 detectives located Morris and placed him back into custody based on the newly discovered evidence. Morris was again booked into the Pima County Jail and was charged with 5 counts of Voyeurism.
