Maricopa, Pima Expected To Post Election Results

On Thursday, Maricopa County Recorder Helen Purcell released an update to the election results for the 2015 Jurisdictional Election. An estimated 31,000 early ballots remained to be processed and tabulated after Election Day.

Approximately 365,600 early ballots were returned by mail close to Election Day and approximately 16,000 dropped off at the polls on Election Day.

On Wednesday, the Maricopa County Recorder’s office tabulated 11,400 early ballots. On Thursday, an additional 19,300 early ballots were tabulated. Purcell estimates there are approximately 2,800 provisional ballots which are being processed. Those that are verified will be tabulated today.

According to Pima County, over 16,000 early ballots that were dropped off at the polls remain to be counted. Another 3000 provisional ballots are being processed. There were 11,000 ballots received by the Recorder before Election Day that have now been turned over to the Elections Department for processing. Tabulating will starts again today, in order to give time for the Recorder and ballot processing to catch up. Everything should be counted Friday or latest Saturday.

While the ballots are slowly being processed for tabulation, Oro Valley candidate Ryan Hartung remains in contention.

On Tuesday, Oro Valley Mayor Satish Hiremath claimed that the race was over. However with nearly 20,000 early and provisional ballots left uncounted, Hiremath’s claim is unfounded.
