Tucson Woman Arrested In June Fatal Hit And Run

The Tucson Police Detectives have arrested 30 year-old Stephenie Schneider in a fatal hit and run collision that occurred on June 28, 2015, in the area of South Houghton Road and East Escalante Road. Schneider has been booked into the Pima County Jail for Manslaughter and Hit & Run Involving Death.

On June 28, 2015, at approximately 8:30 p.m., Tucson Police officers responded to the area of Houghton Road and Escalante Road for the report of a hit and run collision with injuries. Upon arrival, an adult male was located on the ground near his vehicle, with obvious signs of trauma. Tucson Fire immediately transported the victim to Banner University Medical Center, with life-threatening injuries. The other vehicle involved fled the scene before police arrived.

Detectives were able to determine that the victim knew the occupants of the suspect vehicle and that text messages had been sent back and forth before the collision occurred. The investigation showed that the victim had been traveling northbound on Houghton Road with his two teen-aged sons. The suspect vehicle was also northbound on Houghton, following the victim. As the victim approached East Escalante Road, he pulled over and got out of his vehicle. The suspect vehicle approached shortly after and struck the victim as he was standing by the roadway. Witnesses watched the suspect vehicle strike the victim and then flee the scene.

Detectives investigated the incident throughout the evening and were able to locate the suspect vehicle involved. The victim has been identified as 33-year-old Jonathan Potts. .
