On Thursday, Arizona Governor Doug Ducey said confirmation U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to Breitbart Texas that a group composed of 5 Pakistani men and 1 man from Afghanistan was captured by U.S. Border Patrol agents after having illegally crossed the porous U.S.-Mexico border in the Tucson Sector of Arizona, that he was correct in calling for enhanced border security.
“This latest incident only reinforces the need to take our national security seriously on all fronts. News like this is very troubling, especially in light of new threats on the United States from ISIS in a video released in just the last 24 hours,” said Ducey in a statement released on Thursday.
“Our state is grateful to the law enforcement officials and agents on the ground who made these apprehensions, but more vigilance is needed at all levels. I’ve been consistent in saying we want to partner with the federal government, as we have been through our border strike force efforts,” continued Ducey.
“This Monday, members of the U.S. Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee are coming to Arizona, and I will personally be making the case for enhanced security along our border to build on the efforts already underway,” stated the Governor. “It’s clear, our nation needs to up its game and improve border resources if we are going to protect our homeland.”
Judicial Watch reports that in late August, “Islamic terrorist groups are operating in the Mexican border city of Ciudad Juarez and planning to attack the United States with car bombs or other vehicle borne improvised explosive devices (VBIED). High-level federal law enforcement, intelligence and other sources confirmed to JW that a warning bulletin for an imminent terrorist attack on the border has been issued. Agents across a number of Homeland Security, Justice and Defense agencies have all been placed on alert and instructed to aggressively work all possible leads and sources concerning this imminent terrorist threat.”
