McSally Says ISIL Attack “Could Have Happened Here”

Rep. Martha McSally (R-AZ) was selected to deliver the Weekly Republican Address on Saturday, November 21. She discussed the Paris attacks, the fight against ISIS, and steps Congress is taking to help keep the American people safe.

“As we mourn the tragic loss of life in Paris, we have to remember: it could have happened here,” Rep. McSally said. “It’s time that we had a comprehensive strategy to protect Americans and defeat ISIS. We need leadership now more than ever, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to use my expertise in air power and working on the bipartisan Task Force to Combat Foreign Fighter Travel to show what steps are needed.”

Rep. Martha McSally represents the people of Arizona’s Second Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives, where she serves on the Committees on Armed Services and Homeland Security and as the chair of the Subcommittee on Emergency Preparedness, Response, and Communications.

Prior to serving in Congress, Representative McSally served 26 years in the U.S. Air Force, retiring in 2010 as a full Colonel. She is the first female fighter pilot to fly in combat and first to command a fighter squadron in combat in American history.
