Stolen Truck Crashes Into School Bus, 2 Vehicles, Phoenix Home

State Detectives with the Department’s Vehicle Theft Task Force tracked a Low Jack stolen vehicle signal to the area of I10 & 35th Avenue in Phoenix. Two male suspects were observed entering that stolen vehicle, a white Ford pickup truck and then driving away.

The suspects traveled to Avondale, back to Phoenix, into Glendale and back into Phoenix.

The suspects drove recklessly over valley surface streets. While traveling through a residential area located near 62nd Avenue and Broadway, the stolen pickup struck three vehicles. One of those vehicles was a school bus with ten children on-board. Another vehicle was an occupied passenger car and the third vehicle was parked.

The stolen truck ultimately crashed into the garage of a vacant home and that is when the suspects fled on foot. One suspect was taken into custody immediately. The second suspect barricaded himself in a nearby home and was taken into custody a short time later by Phoenix Special Assignments Unit (SAU) detectives who turned him over to State detectives.

State detectives maintained surveillance of the stolen pickup truck with the assistance of the Phoenix Police Department’s helicopter and their SAU team.

There were no injuries reported.
